As of July 15th, 2020 the Arsalyn Program has ended.  The Arsalyn Program was founded in 1996 to encourage young Americans to become informed and active participants in the electoral process.  The Arsalyn Program viewed the civic and political engagement of young people as beneficial to country, community and character.  In our mission to increase youth civic engagement, Arsalyn has been firmly committed to a non-partisan, non-issuebased and inclusive approach to ensure that voting becomes a lifetime commitment on the part of our nation's young adults.

Over the years, the Arsalyn Program has accomplished many significant goals. We designed and implemented a civic engagement curriculum entitled Democracy in Action which we provided and still rpovide for free, to any educator who wished to use the curriculum in the classroom.  This curriculum was designed by educators with decades of classroom experience who ensured that it conformed with California State Standards for Content and represented best practices in pedagogy and was awarded the prestigious Golden Bell by the California School Boards Association.

This curriculum was used as the basis for our simulation election activities.  For 20 years, the Arsalyn Program partnered with the Glendora Unified School district to implement annual simulation elections that included all kinds of elections from local offices from local offices to the Presidency.  These simulation elections expanded over the years to include a combination of in-person and online simulation elections,  More than 75 schools have worked directly with the Arsalyn Program to implement simulation elections and help make voting a habit for young citizens.

Arsalyn has had the honor to partner with many great organizations and inspiring teachers.  A full list of our partners is beyond the scope of this letter, but we would like to extend special thanks to the following individuals: Melissa Germann, Pam Edward, Tom Johnson, and Rebecca Valbuena of the Glendora Unified School District, Erik Hendrickson of San Gabriel High School, Teresa Hudock of USC's CALIS Program, David Smith of the National Conference on Citizenship, Maya Enista Smith of Born This Way Foundation, Michelle Herzog of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, Anthony Pennay of the Walter and Lenore Annenberg Presidential Learning, and all of the members of the Southern California Social Science Association's Board.  We Would also like to extend special thanks to the following organizations:  Los Angeles County Office of Education, the Center for Civic Education, the Bill of Rights Foundation, the Glendora Kiwaniannes, Glendora Unified School District, USC's CALIS Program,  USC's Unruh Institute, Mikva Challenge, CAUSE-USA, Mobiliz.org, and Born This Way Foundation.

Since 1998, Arsalyn has had the great privilege of sponsoring SAVE/Arsalyn Youth Forums civic engagement clubs at high schools throughout Southern  California .  We've worked with thousands of students who wanted to become active and educated participants in the political process.  These clubs were student led and all content was student driven.  These students organized several town hall forums each year and planned an annual Sacramento trip where students learned about California Politics and met with college professors, lobbyists, and legislators.  It has been an honor to work with so many inspirational young people over the years.

We would like to thank all of our past partners and participants for their support.  We wish them all the best in their continued endeavors.
