In 2000, a number of non-profit organizations in the San Gabriel Valley joined together to sponsor civic engagement clubs on local high school campuses. These clubs were called SAVE (Student Advocates for Voter Empowerment). These SAVE clubs were student groups involved in voter empowerment projects that benefit its members, school and community. Over time these clubs have become key members of the Arsalyn Youth Forums network of civic engagement clubs.
Member clubs must be non-profit, non-partisan organizations that introduce and educate high school students about the democratic process through voter registration, voter education and political involvement programs.
Arsalyn Youth Forums clubs include SAVE chapters currently operating at high schools in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California like Mark Keppel High School
Arsalyn, as well as other civic engagement oriented clubs at other locations like Arroyo High School.
The Arsalyn Program and APIA Vote! have collaborated in the creation of a SAVE Manual with instructions and advice for high school students on starting and running a similar club of their own. To obtain a complimentary copy of the manual, please contact Arsalyn.
